February: Yunnan Shenhuo, designed with 450 ktpy primary aluminium capacity, began powering up its Phase I (150 ktpy) project – comprising 110 sets of 500 kA electrolytic cells -, starting up four cells per day since late February. To date a total of 70 cells have been powered up and completion can be expected by end-March. The project was capable of producing 60 t of aluminium ingot per day as of the beginning of this week.
According to an internal source, the company is looking at 1 kt of aluminum output for March. Phase II (150 ktpy) is scheduled to come online by end-April 2020.
The current aluminium ingot price at Shanghai warehouses is RMB12,850/t.
