Yingkou Xintai Aluminium smelter, designed with 460 ktpy capacity, has four production lines with 84 sets of 500 kA electrolytic cells on each line, three lines (320 ktpy) are currently operational. Thanks to relatively high aluminium prices, the company plans to power up the remaining 84 sets of electrolytic cells of the fourth line by end-September, expanding capacity by 140 ktpy.
Xintai produced 26 kt of aluminium in August and its September output is expected to be the same. All products will be sold to parent company Zhongwang Group and Yichuan Electricity. Xintai currently holds no stocks.
Xintai smelter came online in September 2019 and produced 60 kt of aluminium within the year. The company produced 210 kt of aluminium during the first eight months of 2019 and has an annual output target of at 350 kt.
