Environmental inspection teams will be stationed in Honghe Autonomous State, Yunnan for a month from mid-April while they perform environmental checks and inspections. As a direct result, some local small-medium size tin smelters will halt operation for approximately 10 days, curbing production of refined tin by 1.2 kt during the period.
In addition, tin smelters in several other regions of China such as Guangxi, Anhui and IM started maintenance in late March due to shrinking tin ore supply. A total of 1 kt of refined tin output is expected to be curtailed based on suspensions scheduled for two weeks.
