China imported 21.93 kt of tin ore in March 2023, up slightly m-o-m, but showing a decline y-o-y. Burma, the largest tin ore supplier to China, exported 16.79 kt to China during the month. An announcement regarding suspension of tin ore mining at Wa State Burma caused some turbulence in the market two weeks ago, but the plan has as yet to be implemented. Industry commentators forecast tin ore prices are unlikely to rise rapidly over the short-term despite tightening supply in the domestic China market.
