Rizhao Port will take delivery of its first imported alumina shipment of 36 kt from Australia this week. According to an internal source, Rizhao port currently has five berths, each capable of loading/unloading 8 kt of imported alumina per day.
It has been reported that China’s alumina imports totaled 1.3 mln t in 2019. Rizhao Port will become a new port for alumina imports after Lianyungang, Qingdao and Bayuquan Ports. The bonded warehouse at Rizhao Pot can store 800 kt of goods.
Total port charges at Rizhao Port for imported alumina are RMB35/t.
Mainstream prices of imported alumina currently stand at USD300~305/t CIF China.
