The alumina evaporator for use of Nanshan’s PT. Bintan Alumina project (BAI) arrived at Bintan Island Indonesia according to schedule. At present unloading and transportation work has been completed and the project is progressing smoothly with an estimation of being online by end-2020.
Nanshan’s BAI project was designed with 2 mtpy of alumina, 1 mtpy of primary aluminium and 520 ktpy of carbon anode capacity, backed by total investment of USD 5bln. Affiliated projects include a port with 20 mln t per annum throughput and power plants with installed thermal power capacity of 2.86GW.
The project covers an area of about 1,100 hectares and will be developed in stages over 10 years.
