23rd February: A major traffic accident occurred at the Yinman Lead and Zinc mine in IM, during transportation of workers to the underground mine site. The vehicle ran out of control due to brake failure, causing 24 deaths and 29 injuries.
Yinman Mining is a subordinate company of the listed Inner Mongolia Xingye Mining Co., Ltd. Yinman has rich lead and zinc resources, capable of sustaining in excess of 30-years’ mining. Technology upgrades were completed in February 2018, followed by integrated commissioning. Yinman’s total zinc output reached 20 kt (in metal), and lead output was 6 kt (in metal) in 2018 respectively. In 2019, Yinman’s total zinc output is expected at 40 kt (in metal) and lead output at 10 kt (in metal).
Yinman’s zinc output accounts for approximately 3.5% of the total in IM.
