Lanzhou Aluminium is set to cut its prebake anode production to 14 kt in June, down from 17 kt in May.
The company has two calcination furnaces, capable of producing 200 kt of prebake anode per annum. It produced 80 kt of prebake anode in the year to date and currently holds 6 kt in stock. Lanzhou aluminum smelters’ prebake anode demand was estimated at 15 kt in June. After feeding internal demand, the remaining prebake anode will be sold on the local market and to Qinghai.
Mainstream prebake anode prices on the local market are RMB2,750~2,800/t, down RMB30/t from May. Prices are expected to be stable over the next two weeks.
