Jilin Ji’en Nickel resumed electrolytic nickel production early this month but is holding back sales due to limited stocks (less than100 t.) The company suspended operations in late November 2019 under pressure from low prices and weak demand. According to an internal source, the company will sell to the market in early March after building up inventory to about 200 t. The company typically produces 400~500 t of electrolytic nickel per month.
Ji’en was designed with 45 ktpy of electrolytic nickel capacity. February output is estimated at 150 t.
Mainstream electrolytic nickel prices currently stand at RMB101,500~102,000/t, down RMB1,900/t from Monday.
