SMM: An accident caused by a short circuit occurred at the aluminium production lines of an IM smelter early on 24 September. The accident damaged the electrolytic cell bus of two cells, curbing primary aluminium capacity by 250 ktpy. Additionally, part of the company’s primary aluminium capacity under construction was affected.
According to an inside source, it will take more than two months to restart the affected 250 ktpy primary aluminium capacity and development of the new capacity under construction will be delayed as well.
