According to ‘Measures for Completing Energy Consumption Control Targets during the 14th Five-year plan period (2021~2025)’, released by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local lead/zinc miners and zinc smelters are required to keep their total 2021 energy consumption stable y-o-y.
According to SMM, local zinc smelters had been operating at a 90% operational rate with 160 kt of refined zinc output during Q2 2020. SMM projects local IM zinc smelters will cut operations by 10~20% in Q2 2021, impacting production of 16~32 kt during the period.Source
