Huaxing Aluminium, with annual capacity of 2 mtpy began upgrading one of its alumina furnaces in July, in order to meet with ultra-low emissions standards.
The company has three furnaces with daily output at 3,000 t for one furnace and 1,500 t for the other two. A company source said, “We are now upgrading the 3,000 t furnace and anticipate finishing by the end of August.” The company expects to produce 90 kt alumina in August, 10 kt more than in July.
Huaxing produced 1.9 mln t alumina in 2018 and 570 kt from Jan to Jul 2019. All alumina is sold to Chalco Trading Group, with no inventory held.
To date, mainstream alumina prices stand at RMB 2,460-2,510/t ex-works in Shanxi.
