Shanxi Xiaoyi Huaqing Aluminium, designed with 400 ktpy alumina capacity, resumed full capacity operation in early July after completion of environmental upgrades and maintenance starting mid-May. The company’s July output is expected to be 25 kt and at 33 kt for August. At present, the company intends to fulfill its previous orders with no additional alumina being sold to the spot market. Delivery of new orders is scheduled for September 2019.
Xiaoyi Huaqing came online in June 2018, producing 220 kt of alumina in the year, with total alumina output during the first seven months of 2019 reaching 175 kt.
At present, mainstream alumina prices stand at RMB 2,470~2,520/t ex-works in Shanxi, down RMB 20/t from last week.
