Henan Zhongmei Alumina refinery, designed with 400 ktpy alumina capacity, has two 200 ktpy alumina production lines. In response to requests from the local government, Zhongmei will suspend operations during the National Day Holiday period from 20 September to 15 October.
According to an internal source, the company is currently at full operation, but stopped quoting to the spot market on Monday 9 September to ensure delivery of existing orders before halting production.
The company produced 32 kt of alumina in August and its September output is expected at 20 kt. The company produced 360 kt of alumina in 2018, with output totaling 240 kt during the first eight months of 2019.
In Henan, mainstream alumina prices are between RMB 2,530~2,580/t, up RMB 10/t from last Friday.
