East Hope Sanmenxia, designed with 2.5 mtpy alumina capacity is set to resume full capacity in May.
East Hope Sanmenxia has five alumina production lines, three of which were operational last month. The company is set to restart the remaining two lines in early May using local bauxite. It currently holds bauxite stocks capable of sustaining two weeks’ production.
East Hope Sanmenxia produced 2 mln t of alumina in 2019 and set its 2020 output target at 2.4 mln t. The company produced 130 kt of alumina in April, the same amount as in March.
At present, mainstream alumina prices are standing at RMB2,060~2,110/t ex-works in Henan, holding steady from last week.
