East Hope Sanmenxia, designed with 2.5 mtpy alumina capacity across five production lines resumed operations on two alumina production lines in early March after a three-week suspension. With improved bauxite supply and transport, the company resumed its last idle alumina production line two weeks ago, and has now ramped up to full capacity operation.
East Hope Sanmenxia produced 2 mln t of alumina in 2019 with its 2020 output target set at 2.4 mln t. The company produced 180 kt of alumina in March, 120 kt in February and is aiming for 200 kt alumina output in April 2020.
At present, mainstream alumina prices stand at RMB2,440~2,490/t ex-works in Henan, down by RMB80/t from last Friday.
