Gansu Dongxing Aluminum has a total of 1.7 mtpy primary aluminium capacity at its Jiayuguan (1.35 mtpy) and Longxi smelters (350 ktpy). The company plans to run maintenance on seventy 500kA cells and twenty 240kA cells starting from late March, and involving 100 ktpy capacity.
According to an inside source, the company has been operating at full capacity over the past three months. It produced 1.55 mln t of primary aluminium in 2019 and has set its 2020 output target at the same level. It currently holds no stocks.
Mainstream aluminium ingot prices are standing at RMB11,750~11,850/t at Shanghai warehouses last Friday, up RMB110/t from the previous day.
