Magnesium Branch of CNIA: During January 2025, China produced approximately 87 kt of primary magnesium, a y-o-y increase of 13.3%. Shaanxi contributed 54 kt, up 16.1%, while the Shanxi region produced 18.6 kt, up 3.9%.
The domestic magnesium price fluctuated between RMB 16,100 ~16,400/t in January, with an average monthly price of RMB 16,250/t, remaining stable when compared to December 2024 but down 20.3% y-o-y.
On the export front, the average FOB price of primary magnesium was USD 2,372.9/t in January, down sharply by 21.7% y-o-y and down slightly by 0.4% m-o-m.
