24th June: Mainstream primary magnesium was being quoted at RMB 25,500/t (ex-work, with taxes), with some transactions closing at RMB 25,200/t, holding stable w-o-w. Magnesium prices in other producing regions also remained stable.
Industry commentators forecast magnesium prices to be under pressure over the short term amid continued lackluster demand. However, in consideration of smelters’ strong will to prop prices, magnesium is unlikely to drop further but is more likely to remain stable at the low end next week.
