Several Shanxi Xiaoyi alumina refineries set their procurement prices for local bauxite (A/S=5.0 grade) at RMB370~380/t (without taxes) in June, the same level as May.
Despite increasing inquiries from primary aluminum smelters since last Friday, no large-scale alumina transactions have taken place. At present, alumina is being quoted at RMB2,180~2,200/t in Shandong, a slight increase from last Friday. SMM data shows domestic weighted averaged alumina prices at RMB2,206/t, remaining steady on the previous day.
Downstream, the weekly operational rates of major aluminum processers increased by 1.3 percentage points w-o-w, describing a steady trend.
