SMM News
As of Wednesday 15th April, a total of 885 ktpy primary aluminium capacity (annualized) had been curtailed as a result of low prices, according to SMM. An increasing number of high-cost smelters will cut operations or run maintenance ahead of schedule if the domestic aluminium price remains low in the short-term.
On the demand side, aluminium inventories have been in decline along with increasing sales of aluminium ingots and rods driven by a strong rebound of the aluminium building materials sector.
