China imported 6.75 mln t of bauxite in September, down by 1.89 mln t from 8.64 mln t in August, having declined over two consecutive months. China imported 1.79 mln t of bauxite from Guinea in September, slumping by 1.85 mln t from 3.64 mln t in August, which is the main cause of the overall monthly decline in September.
However, China imported 78.09 mln t of bauxite during the first nine months of 2019, far higher than the figure of 61.63 mln t during the same time last year. China’s bauxite imports totaled 82.62 mln t in 2018.
