SMM: Shanghai imported 1.84 mln t (DMT and WMT combined) of nickel ore in March 2021, up 24.6% m-o-m and up 27.2% y-o-y. Of this figure, 1.77 mln t was nickel laterite and 68.7 kt was nickel sulfide. Nickel laterite imports from the Philippines was 1.67 mln t (DMT and WMT combined), up 29.2% m-o-m and up 70.95% y-o-y. Given the ending of the rainy season in the Philippines, SMM forecast China’s nickel ore imports to rise to 4 mln t (WMT) in April.
