Guangxi Baise Mining Group’s Tianlin Aluminium is set to bring its phase II, 100 ktpy primary aluminium project online during late August. Phase II comprises 80 sets of 600kA cells.
Designed with total primary aluminium capacity of 300 ktpy, the Tianlin smelter has been operating at 100 ktpy capacity over the past three months.
Baise Mining Group has a total of 1.3 mtpy aluminium capacity across five aluminium smelters, with 800 ktpy capacity presently in operation. The company plans to lift its operational capacity to 1 mtpy by end-2019. Baise Mining Group has revised its 2019 output target from the original 900 kt to 800 kt. The company produced 500 kt of primary aluminium in 2018.
Baise Mining Group produced 66 kt of primary aluminium in June and its July output is expected to be the same. The company currently holds no stocks.
