Mainstream domestic magnesium prices rose by RMB 200/t from Monday and was up by RMB 400/t from last Friday to RMB 21,100~21,500/t on Wednesday. Industrial commentators forecast domestic magnesium prices to rise further this week.
According to a spokesperson from a northern smelter, “We sold 31 t of magnesium at RMB 20,900/t on Monday, 62 at RMB 21,000/t on Tuesday morning and an additional 31 t at RMB 21,200/t in the afternoon. Prices are likely to rise by RMB 200/t this week, so we have halted sales at the moment.”
