Domestic magnesium transactions have been slow recently, with current primary magnesium prices sitting at RMB 24,300~24,800/t ex-works, continuing stable from last Friday. Some vendors are willing to compromise on prices to facilitate sales, and, given fierce price competition among vendors, prices are expected to trend down further this week.
A northern magnesium smelter sold 100 t of magnesium at RMB 24,300/t last Friday and is holding 300 t in stock. Transactions are slow amid a flat market and poor downstream demand, seeing the smelter project prices to continue weak over the short-term.
