China imported 419 kt of NPI (actual tonnage) in April, down by 2.58% m-o-m but up by 32.62% y-o-y. When converted to Ni metal, China imported 60.7 kt of NPI (in Ni metal), down by 8.31% m-o-m but up by 24.72% y-o-y.
China imported 2.49 mln t (DMT and WMT combined) of nickel laterite in April, up by 46.1% m-o-m but down by 22.4% y-o-y. In the meantime, nickel laterite inventory at Chinese ports are running low with destocking activities expected to continue till end-May.
