China produced 33.54 kt (in Ni metal) of NPI in December 2021, up by 8.06% m-o-m; China’s total NPI production reached 408.7 kt (in Ni metal) from January to December 2021, down by 18.8% y-o-y but in line with industrial expectations for the year.
Looking forward to January 2022, China NPI production is expected to drop slightly m-o-m as domestic NPI smelters are disinterested in increasing production amid higher production costs and larger stocks before the Chinese New Year holiday.
