14th December: CNNC (Hua Yuan Titanium Dioxide Co.), Guangdong Huiyun Titanium, and Panzhihua Taihai Technology raised their TiO2 pigment prices by RMB1,000/t on the domestic market and by USD150/t for exports, with effect from 1st January 2022. All prices are ex-works with taxes. On Monday 13th December, industry leader LoMo and Billions also increased its prices by the same amount.
Industry commentators take the view that this round of price increases will be difficult to sustain in the wake of weaker raw material prices – with titanium concentrate prices falling by RMB 300/t to RMB 2,150/t and sulfuric acid prices falling by half from a high point this year to RMB 430/t at present. As of last Friday, the operational rate of domestic TiO2 producers was 76.11% in China.
