The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued “14th Five Year Plan” for green industrial development recenlty. The document emphasizes upgrades and retrofits of retorts in magnesium smelting. It is expected that by end-2025, 4,000 magnesium reduction retorts will be upgraded to vertical retorts. In comparison with regular retorts, vertical retorts are highly mechanized, taking smaller space, need fewer workers with lower labor intensity, low investment, energy consumption and FeSi consumption.
At present, vertical reducing retorts (with superior economic and environmental performance) are used by Yunhai Metals, Fugu Xintian Magnesium, Xinjiang Tengxiang Magnesium and Ningxia Kaitai Magnesium.
