NDRC along with other relevant state departments issued the “Action Plan for Energy Efficiency Control and Acceleration of Energy Conservation and Decarbonation in Key Industries of Metallurgy and Building materials (2021-2025)”. Industries involved are; iron and steel making, primary aluminium, cement, flat glass, oil refining, ethylene, synthetic ammonia, calcium carbide and other key industries.
According the Plan, these energy intensive industries should ensure that more than 30% of their production capacity meets tighter energy efficiency standards by 2025.
The Plan sets the energy consumption standards for primary aluminium (liquid) smelting during 2021~2025, with AC power consumption at 13,350 kWh/t (base level) and 13,000 kWh/t (upper level).
