SMM: China produced 509.1 kt of refined zinc in August up 3.3% m-o-m and up 1.98% y-o-y. China’s accumulated refined zinc output in the year to August reached 3.87 mln t, up 3.68% y-o-y.
August monthly output beat July expectations as a result of PC charges rising m-o-m to RMB5,450/t (in metal), and continued increasing domestic zinc prices. Domestic zinc smelters increased operations driven by relatively high profits during August 2020.
