China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd (Energy China) Gezhouba Branch and Indonesia PT.OTI EYA ABADI Mining Co., Ltd. signed a contract for nickel laterite mining and transportation in Indonesia, worth USD160 mln. The project is located at Morowali County, in the central Sulawesi province, Indonesia. It is 83.7 km from Morowali airport and 296 km from Kendari city. The total mining area is 3,339 hectares, and the laterite nickel ore reserve is about 30 mln WMT.
The 4-year contract involves nickel mining and transportation of 5 mln t per annum. Project scope includes mine area surface cleaning, overburden and ore stripping, excavation, loading, transportation, road transportation, loading and unloading from wharf to barge or storage yard, and road maintenance during construction.
