13th May: Yunnan Shenhuo, designed with 450 ktpy of primary aluminium capacity, is set to power up its 150 ktpy Phase II by end-May, increasing total operational capacity to 300 ktpy.
Yunnan Shenhuo’s Phase I (150 ktpy) project came fully online in early May, and is currently operational. The company produced 11 kt of primary aluminium in April and its May output is estimated at 12 kt.
Mainstream aluminium price at Guangzhou warehouses was RMB13,000~13,100/t this Tuesday, the same as the previous trading day. With improved downstream demand, the spot market appears active.
