Domestic PC charges for zinc concentrates dropped further by RMB 50/t in IM, fell by RMB100/t in Shaanxi, Sichuan and Guangxi and remained stable in other producing regions last week. Mainstream quotations for domestic zinc concentrates currently stand at RMB5,900~6,500/t. Mainstream PC charges for imported zinc concentrates have declined to USD250~270/DMT. Despite the fall, domestic PC charges for zinc concentrates remain at a relatively high level.
Several domestic zinc smelters are still carrying out maintenance, (including Yunnan Luoping, IM Hulunbeier and Baohui). The Chengzhou smelter of Baiyin Nonferrous Metals has already resumed operations and Mengzi, IM and Western Mining smelters will start maintenance in late March. In general, more maintenance will be ongoing during March than in February – signaling a decline in monthly production.
