Shanxi Jiaokou Xinghua Technology, (under Chalco Group), presently has total alumina capacity of 900 ktpy across two alumina production lines of 350 ktpy (HT) and 550 ktpy (LT) respectively.
Due to a further tightening of local bauxite supply, Xinghua suspended the 350 ktpy HT production line in early December. The company has since resumed mining at its captive mines and has decided to resume the 350 ktpy line after the Chinese New Year holiday in February. According to an internal source, the company’s alumina output is estimated at 50 kt in January, falling from 70 kt in December 2019.
The company produced 850 kt of alumina in 2019, with its 2020 annual production target remaining the same. It holds no inventory at present.
Mainstream alumina prices now stand at RMB2,440~2,490/t, delivered in Shanxi, the same level as last week.
