14 kinds of hazardous wastes have been added to the newly published “List of National Hazardous Wastes (Revised Version, 2nd draft). In terms of the aluminium industry, carbon slag produced during the electrolytic process, dross from the process of transfer, purification, impurity removal, alloying and casting of liquid aluminium, salt slag and aluminum ash produced in aluminum recycling are all included in the list.
Once the list has been finalized and comes into effect, environmental costs of the aluminium industry are likely to rise accordingly.
