4th January 2020: In view of severe air pollution in Shanxi mid-January, local authorities published a severe air pollution ‘Orange Alert’ (level II), requiring Taiyuan city, 30 key counties and districts of Xinzhou, Luliang, Jinzhong, Yangquan, Linfen, Yuncheng and six other cities to activate responses immediately.
It has been reported that local alumina refineries are required to cut operations by 50% (clinker and calcination process) in terms of production lines. Raw material transport (including fuel gas) by truck under the ‘National Stage IV Motor Vehicle Pollutant Emission Standard’, is forbidden.
