Sichuan Aba Aluminium smelter, designed with 200 ktpy primary aluminium capacity, plans to resume 24 ktpy aluminium capacity in mid-November, ramping up to full capacity operations by end-November. The 24 ktpy capacity, was suspended in late August after power supply interruptions caused by mud-slides.
Sichuan Aba smelter has 206 sets of 360 kA electrolytic cells and its October output is expected to be 14.6 kt, the same level as September. It has 10 kt of aluminium ingot as inventory at present. The company’s total output reached 190 kt in 2018 and output for 2019 is expected to drop by 10 kt to 180 kt.
Last Tuesday, primary aluminium ingot prices at Guangzhou warehouses were RMB 13,800~13,900/t, down RMB 60/t from last Monday.
