Chongqing Bosai Group took over management of the Guangyuan Qimingxing smelter in the form of rental this October and will be responsible for Qimingxing’s raw material supply and product sales over the next three years.
Guangyuan Qimingxing smelter, designed with 120 ktpy aluminium capacity comprising 220 sets of 240 cells, has been operating at half capacity since the beginning of 2019. The company produced 90 kt of primary aluminium in 2018, and its total 2019 annual output is expected at 60 kt.
Bosai Group owns three primary aluminium smelters in Sichuan, with total aluminium capacity of 450 ktpy. Additionally, Bosai has two alumina refineries in Chongqing, each with 800 ktpy alumina capacity per annum.
This Tuesday, primary aluminium ingot prices at Guangzhou warehouses were RMB 13,730~13,830/t, down RMB 30/t from last Monday.
