Chinese tin smelters participating at the 2019 ITRI Asian Tin Conference announced that domestic smelters will reduce refined tin output by 20.2 kt with the aim of ensuring the healthy development of the tin industry. PT Timah (Persero) TBK Indonesia, the world’s leading refined tin supplier, announced that it would cut production by more than 10 kt.
As a result, global refined tin supply will be curtailed by in excess of 30.2 kt, accounting for approximately 10% of the global total per annum.
