Shanxi Jiaokou Xinghua Technology, (under Chalco Group), presently has total alumina capacity of 900 ktpy in two alumina production lines of 350 ktpy and 550 ktpy respectively. Due to further tightening local bauxite supply, Xinghua plans to upgrade its 550 ktpy alumina production line in September, converting from HT to LT to match processing requirements of imported bauxite. At present, the company holds bauxite inventories capable of sustaining operations for 10 days.
The company is now running at full capacity, with August output expected to be 70 kt, the same as in July. It produced 790 kt of alumina in 2018, and output for the year amounted to 350 kt. The company currently holds no alumina inventory.
At present, mainstream alumina prices stand at RMB 2,460~2,510/t ex-works in Shanxi, down slightly from earlier this week.
