NDRC: Total output of the major ten kinds of nonferrous metals including copper, aluminium, lead, zinc and nickel climbed by 4.3% on-year to 28.34 mln t during H1 2019. Of this figure, copper output was 4.52 mln t, aluminium 17.41 mln t, lead 2.87 mln t and zinc output 2.82 mln t, represented by increases of 5.8%, 2.2%, and 16.6% and 2.3% y-o-y respectively. During the same period, domestic alumina output grew by 6.7% y-o-y to 37.19 mln t.
June’s average prices for these metals dropped moderately when compared with May, seeing copper at RMB 46,775/t, lead RMB 16,103/t and zinc RMB 20,967/t, m-o-m declines of 3.7%, 1.8% and 3.1% and y-o-y declines of 10%, 20.7%, and 13.6% respectively. By contrast, domestic primary aluminium prices averaged RMB 14,145/t in June, up 0.3% on-month but down 3.5% on-year.
